We are seeking to add an intellectually curious Senior Engineering Analyst/Associate Director to bolster our development capabilities around geothermal heating / cooling solutions specifically.


Job Description

The candidate will:

  • support the development of ground source heat pump (GSHP) solutions by conducting lifecycle cost analysis for geothermal development opportunities from ground loop through to and including mechanical room
  • model the financial / business case for distributed energy resource (DER) solutions particularly in commercial, industrial, and institutional applications
  • rely on energy interval data to visualize system operations, model economic performance using utility tariff structures, and reveal energy cost saving strategies and most optimum solution
  • maintain a current understanding of emerging trends in energy markets and improvements in commercial technologies, in order to recommend the most cost-effective and advanced configuration of DER solutions
  • prepare reports for clients, initially under the supervision of a more experienced team member, with the goal of quickly progressing to leading client projects
  • write proposals to secure new business, initially under the supervision of a more experienced team member, with the goal of quickly progressing to leading proposals

Desired Hard Skills

  • graduate degree in related field (HVAC design, geothermal design, mechanical engineering, refrigeration and thermal engineering), or 5+ years of related job experience
  • competency developing hourly thermal / electric building loads using software such as eQuest, IES, or similar
  • familiarity with geothermal ground loop design software (such as GLD Gaia or similar)
  • familiarity with mechanical room arrangement, specifically heat pump selection and circulation pump sizing
  • familiarity with other distributed energy resources, including air source heat pumps, combined heat & power, fuel cells, and/or energy storage
  • strong MS Excel and, AutoCAD skills
  • superior written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey technical ideas and information to both expert and non-expert audiences
  • ability to analyze efficiency gains from geothermal integrated with other thermal energy opportunities, such as sewage heat recovery, refrigeration, and/or solar thermal
  • financial modeling experience a plus
