Commodity Buyer - Components and Outside Processes
Chelsea, Michigan - Full Time

Hatch Stamping Company is looking for a Commodities Buyer responsible for quoting, ordering, and accounting for the inventory supplies in various commodity groups.  Working with other departments to achieve company goals.

 

Responsibilities 

Directly work with Cost Estimating, Engineering, and Program Mtg groups to procure quotes for future business activity and Product Development changes.

Issue spot buy purchase orders for material and components as required by Product Development Teams for Pre-Production vehicle builds.

Issue blanket purchase orders for Components and Outside Processes as programs move from development to production.

Provide a liaison between the requesting departments and the suppliers in clarifying open issues.

Work directly with existing Component and Outside Process suppliers to increase quality, delivery, and cost metrics.  Maintain key supplier measurable data for quarterly reviews.

Follow up with all personnel on product/service performance and quality concerns as required.  Negotiate final SNCR resolution with suppliers as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

Education Level: Associate Degree with 3 years related experience or Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in purchasing, business administration, and/or engineering

Experience in years: 3 years of experience as a direct materials buyer

1. Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (exposure to Plex ERP/MRP system a plus)

2. Advanced skill in MS applications

3. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

4. Good organizational skills and ability to handle fast-paced working environment.
