East Central College has an opening for a full-time (10-month contract) Health Information Management (HIM) Program Director. The program director is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the program operations, maintaining accreditation standards and guidelines established by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The program director will be given adequate release time to devote to curriculum development and evaluation, advising and counseling of students, program management, practicum oversite, and administrative duties within the institution.

ECC offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Management. The person chosen for this position is expected to develop an active learning environment with the use of Canvas (LMS) and other effective instructional technology. Students work towards the successful completion of the RHIT certification.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
- Master’s degree in Health Information Management preferred. Baccalaureate degree in Health Information Management is minimally required.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience
- Active license as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Anticipated start date: January 2022.
