Composites Engineer
Seattle, Washington - Full Time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of an Integrated Product Team and participate in projects aimed at creating and implementing designs that meet advanced marine-specific requirements

  • Function as Structures Lead for composite components

  • Provide analytical support for preliminary & detailed design, through development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service

  • Finite element modeling and analysis; calculation of ply stresses, natural frequencies, transient dynamic response, impact capability, fatigue life, and safety margins; monitoring of structural tests; analysis of test results

  • Develop computer and simulation-based methods and processes that support engineering productivity and throughput

  • Document and present results to management and external customers

  • Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in related engineering fields, structural engineering, naval architecture, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, material science, physics, or a related discipline

  • Three or more years’ experience in composite Marine design and engineering

  • Significant experience in some of the following areas: advanced composites, FEA, design for additive manufacturing (3D printing), marine composite fabrication, systems and assembly, advanced mechanics of materials

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet constant deadlines
