Quality Engineer
Seattle, Washington - Full Time

Pure Watercraft is creating revolutionary electric boat propulsion to ensure a future where boating will be clean, quiet, and powerful.  As we continue to build our innovative products, we are looking for a talented Quality Engineer to join the engineering team to help ensure the quality of the design and manufacture of our products to achieve our goal of revolutionizing the way people use their boats.

You will work alongside our design engineering team, our manufacturing engineering team, our quality inspectors, and our manufacturing technicians to ensure quality throughout the product’s lifecycle. This will include reviewing designs for manufacturability and inspectability, verifying supplier compliance with design specifications, and developing and maintaining manufacturing standards and procedures to maintain quality. 

Pure Watercraft is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.  Our engineering prototypes have already delivered more than 1,000 hours of high performance boating. Our ground-up proprietary electric propulsion system can replace millions of unreliable, expensive, and dirty gas marine motors worldwide.  The platform also unlocks totally new opportunities for users to interact with their boats, enhancing performance, navigation, efficiency, comfort, safety, maintenance, and security.

What You’ll “Mostly” Do: 

  • Design and implement quality standards for suppliers and internal manufacturing

  • Design and implement inspection processes for incoming supplier parts and manufacturing

  • Manage the nonconformance process and ensure compliance with suppliers and throughout the manufacturing process

  • Work with the production floor to investigate quality issues and ensure root cause of issue has been identified and addressed

  • Monitoring the quality performance of our suppliers and manufacturing operations

  • Evaluate new designs for manufacturability, ease of inspection, and likelihood of quality defects to provide feedback to design engineering

  • Provide leadership and guidance to our quality inspectors and manufacturing technicians for maintaining quality performance

 

 

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial/Systems Engineering or equivalent 

  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering and/or quality control management for manufacturing

  • Familiar with various inspection techniques, quality standards/systems, and design for manufacturability

  • 1+ years of experience with Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills in English

Our preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in high rate, high quality manufacturing such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, etc.

  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action

  • Experience with PPAP and similar supplier quality programs

  • Experience implementing quality management systems and standing up new manufacturing facilities

  • ASQ or other similar quality certification a plus
