Program Manager

Stanford University Global LLC is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Seed Program Manager for West Africa.

The Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies, also known as Stanford Seed, is a Stanford Graduate School of Business-led initiative that is working to end the cycle of global poverty by training business leaders in emerging markets, inspiring Stanford students to become globally engaged leaders, and supporting critical research from across the university to maximize our impact. The Program Manager will serve as a key staff member responsible for the effective delivery of the Seed Transformation Program (“STP”). The STP is a high-touch leadership program for CEOs of small to medium size businesses. The STP is a complex, global program occurring over 11 months, with both online and in person components.  The STP is designed globally, and delivered regionally.  

A key part of the role is helping busy business leaders and their teams make the most of their learning experience. Specifically, the Program Manager works in a highly collaborative environment supporting Seed staff, faculty and program execution partners on the following:   (1) managing participant communications and materials primarily through, but not limited to, a learning management system;  (2) onboarding participants to the program components and to the STP learning technology (i.e., Learning Management System, Zoom, Google Suite, Salesforce), and (3) organizing all operational aspects of in-person cohort trainings in her/his region, (4) participating in, and co-administering recruitment of participants; and  (5) moderating and providing or overseeing technology support for in person and online synchronous learning sessions with faculty and local business advisors. S/he is responsible for operational  excellence to ensure the positive experience of both participants’ and internal stakeholders. The Program Manager will collaborate  with Seed program teams at all locations to share best practices,  and collect and analyze STP feedback.  The Program Manager may  participate in the administration and delivery of additional Stanford Seed entrepreneurial support programs as needed. The Program Manager will report to Regional Director, Seed West Africa in Accra, Ghana.

CORE DUTIES:

STP Recruitment & Admissions

  • Work with regional team to establish the strategy and support ecosystem outreach

  • Participate in application reviews, interviews and admissions committee selection processes

  • Co-administer (along with the F&A Assoc) the recruitment process, using Salesforce and other tools

  • Onboard and support the onboarding process for business leaders and their management teams - to the curriculum and learning management system

STP Delivery

  • Support STP participants in their learning journey as needed through guidance on the technology, program requirements, and other program related questions/concerns.

  • Work closely with Program Delivery and Regional Team members to successfully plan and deliver all aspects of the STP

  • Manage the preparation, distribution and organization of materials for use by faculty, Business Transformation Advisors and program participants during in-person and online components of the curriculum

  • Coordinate in-person and online curriculum and networking activities leading to and following business leader sessions and workshops

  • Provide support to faculty, Business Transformation Advisors (“BTAs”) and other presenters by ensuring technology and materials are prepared and delivered as per plan - for all components of the STP

  • Moderate and both in-person and online sessions

  • Lead the organization and execution of online Networking sessions

  • Collaborate with Regional Director (RD) and other stakeholders to identify and at times secure external support for STP sessions, including local speakers and prior program participants.

  • Manage participant program onboarding, including program structure, requirements, and technology orientation.

  • Manage all participants facing communication via multiple platforms (email, learning management system, Whatsapp groups, Workplace, etc.)   

Lead program learning platforms and other technologies

  • Lead and provide technical support to all participants and regional team members on learning management systems, online learning and collaboration tools.  From a regional perspective, the Learning Manager will lead the dynamic evolution of technology to continue to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the STP for participants and internal stakeholders.

  • In collaboration with others, manage online learning tools, such as Canvas, NovoEd or other LMS, Zoom, Google Suite, etc.  and help solve technical support issues with business leaders.

  • Oversee learning management system for regional submissions, data collection, debriefs, and other program elements.

  • Work with IT support to ensure the functioning of the classroom technology and sound systems.

Coordinate program monitoring and evaluation

  • Contribute to program monitoring and evaluation through organizing and leading team debrief meetings to gather staff input on programs; communicating with participants as needed to drive participant response rates.

  • Collect and analyze data; formulate recommendations to achieve the goals of the program. 

  • Plan and monitor all budgets for areas of responsibility.

  • Provide program management support for Seed’s programs for earlier stage entrepreneurs Provide ad hoc support for the Coaching, Intern and other Seed programs as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Minimum of 5 or more years of professional experience and education background in the fields of business, education, or related domain.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Management:

  • Experience in managing and administering education and/or entrepreneurship programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work, multi-task, and meet deadlines.   

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.

  • Technology skills and ability to recommend systems and process improvements - programming experience preferred

  • Growth mindset, critical thinking & problem solving

Technical expertise in management of education programs:

  • Advanced technical skills and experience in Google Suite tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Salesforce, and learning management systems.  Computer / data systems programming experience preferred

  • Relevant subject matter knowledge with education programs: 

    • Experience in online or blended learning education programs preferred

    • Experience with entrepreneurship training is preferred

  • Managing program monitoring & evaluation, and leveraging data for program improvement  

Effective communication with stakeholders:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and in an articulate, proactive and diplomatic fashion with participants, faculty, staff and otherwise.

  • Bilingual English and French preferred.

  • Experience in working cross culturally, with preference for experience in emerging markets.

  • Excellent presentation skills
