Essential Job Duties: 

  • Technical leader of an assigned project
    • Leads mechanical, fluids, controls engineering efforts
    • Communicates to Project Engineer, Lead builder, and customer as required.
  • Responsible for all Up-front project activities
    • Reviews and closely follows customer specifications and requirements for machines, tooling and automation during manufacture of machines, tooling, automation, GAP document, and cycle timing diagram.
    • Work with Asst. Chief Engineer to schedule resources to meet project needs
    • Creation and maintaining of Job Structure and Job Control Sheet

    • Controls Transfer
  • Responsible for technical design and detail drawings using 3D CAD and other engineering tools, laboratory equipment and engineering analysis software.
    • Technical communication within the team.
    • Project engineering calculations
    • Readiness of mechanical drawings to mechanical standards for checking
  • Responsible for detailed lists of parts, detail drawings, and materials (bills of materials) required to complete the project, as required.
    • Ensures timely entry of BOM’s into M2M
    • Release of Mechanical BOM’s from Engineering into Procurement phase for assigned projects.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting project issues and driving them to a solution by root cause analysis.
    • Procurement (Supplier issues)
    • Inspection
    • Start-Up/De-Bug
    • Run-off
  • Responsible for project outputs:
    • Machine component tags listing
    • Machine Verification Log
    • PCR test plan
    • Run-off plan
    • Machine shipping weights
    • Mechanical input to Technical manual.
  • Understanding of machine operations and ability to operate the machine.
  • Continuously improves engineering processes.
  • Helps develop strategies and processes to ensure on-time delivery of equipment, cost reduction opportunities and performance improvements.
  • Good working knowledge of designing and specifying components for high-force machines and handling systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing environment, including machining processes, workflow, assembly processes, cycle time and quality and delivery expectations.

  • Mentor and train junior engineers assigned by Assistant Chief Engineer during projects.
  • May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • Perform other assignments, as requested by supervisor or manager.
    • Based on individuals skillsets/desire, may perform duties of other team members as required to meet project needs. i.e., Robot programming, assistance with de-bug, establishing process parameters for improved machine performance.

Desired Skills:

  1. Hydraulic circuit design
  2. Hydraulic component hardware and specification
  3. Ability to perform fluid and thermal analysis and sizing calculations

Required Skills and Competencies:

  1. Must have excellent communication skills
  2. Computer skills; SolidWorks (preferred), AutoCAD 2D, and Microsoft Office products
  3. Must have background with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks or similar 3D software
  4. Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand dimensional tolerances
  5. Integrated system design
  6. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. permanently
  7. Must conduct oneself with the highest level of professional and ethical standards.

This position leads to product development and leadership roles.
