Starting Salary Range: $88,543 - $110,678 annually DOE, plus benefits

The Position

We are seeking to fill the position of “Accounting Manager.” The work this person does will have a substantial impact on financial operations and reporting for our agency.

The ideal candidate will be care deeply about our mission and our participants.  This person will have a strong background in financial operations and accounting.  You should be comfortable working with deadlines and be a strong leader with supervisory experience in an accounting operations environment.  Applicants should be comfortable working in a team in efforts to accomplish the goals of the Finance Department and the agency. 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager will work to ensure that financial information produced by the agency is accurate and complies with ongoing and changing requirements.  You will have hands-on responsibility for overseeing the team which produces financial transactions for the agency as well as be primary contact for banking operations.  You will learn and follow agency policies and processes and be able to explain and guide staff to do the same.  You will prepare or oversee preparation of certain financial transactions and reports in a timely and accurate manner.  You and your team will prepare other analysis and reports as needed throughout the year.  You will work together with other departments to ensure that accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management and other accounting functions are completed accurately and in compliance with regulations, laws, and policies.   You will work with others to develop and document new processes as needed.

The Accounting Manager will play a vital role in similar work for the agency as a whole and will support the CFO, Deputy Director, and Controller in gathering information and conducting analysis as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 3 to 5 years of paid work experience in accounting and financial reporting.  Experience in  a housing authority, property management, or government environment is preferred.  
  • At least two years of paid experience in supervising accounting staff. 
  • Solid understanding of principals and practices of modern fiscal management and accounting standards, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  Understanding of audit standards is advantageous.
  • Strong ability and knowledge of computers, including financial software and Office 365.  Strong ability in Excel.  Experience in Yardi is beneficial.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply applicable laws and regulations as well as accounting standards relevant to our agency.
  • Understanding of budget preparation and budget controls.
