Chief Financial Officer
Boulder, Colorado - Full Time

OVERALL JOB OBJECTIVE:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the CFO is responsible for strategic guidance on short and long-term financial positioning, risk management for organizational assets, provision of financial information necessary for making policy decisions to management and the Board of Commissioners.  Overall responsibility for all accounting functions, internal controls and excellent financial services operation.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Consults with executive management on long-term financial strategies.
  2. Responsible for working with management to prepare accurate annual budgets.
  3. Provides accurate and timely financial reports to management and the Board of Commissioners.
  4. Responsible for safeguarding assets of the agency including oversight of insurance procurement.
  5. Responsible for design, implementation and periodic risk assessment of internal controls.
  6. Manages the audit process for BHP and tax credit entities and works closely with external auditors including drafting the “Management Discussion and Analysis” report and preparation of required HUD reporting.
  7. Reviews pro-forma financial analyses prepared by the Development and Asset Management teams.
  8. Identifies opportunities for and manages debt issuance and refinance process as needed.
  9. Develops fiscal policies and procedures.
  10. Maintains banking relationships.
  11. Manages the BHP procurement process to ensure compliance with HUD, State and City procurement requirements.
  12. Staff liaison to the Board Finance Committee.
  13. Manages financial and compliance reporting to lenders and investment partners.

Other:

  1. Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of BHP and maybe asked to supervise other departments as needed in the future.
  2. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 4-year college degree majoring in accounting, business, economics, or comparable field. Experience with real estate accounting, construction and development accounting. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse people in an organizational context. Attention to detail. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision. Willingness and ability to work additional hours as needed. Acceptable background information, including criminal history; ability to be bonded. Valid Colorado driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record. Solid work history at CFO level (non-profit/government/Housing Authority experience preferred).


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Public Accountant. Experience with HUD accounting and reporting, multi-family rental housing, affordable housing, housing development, construction management or housing authorities. Experience with Yardi software.
