Bunting located in Dubois, PA is seeking an experienced Quality/Engineering Inspection Manager to oversee the inspection processes within our magnet assembly manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the established quality and performance standards and resolve quality-related problems to comply with specifications and regulatory requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of assembly processes, inspection techniques, and quality management processes for large volume production as well as custom low volume manufacturing.
Summary:
The Engineering Inspection Manager will oversee the quality assurance and control processes for the manufacturing of magnets as well as finished magnet assemblies. As well as own manufactured product this position will oversee the same quality standards for traded (brought in) magnet and component materials. The role involves managing a team of inspectors, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining high-quality production levels. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers, production staff, and management to address and resolve quality issues. They will provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements and defect prevention as well as continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Manage the quality inspection team, providing training, mentoring and support to ensure high standards of quality.
- Create and maintain a department budget that aligns with the overall goals and strategy of the overall business.
- Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve business objectives within the inspection team.
- Create and maintain a strategic plan for the tracking and improvement of customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on inspection results, quality metrics, and compliance.
- Maintain thorough documentation of inspection procedures, findings, and corrective actions.
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Develop and implement inspection processes and procedures to ensure all products meet required specifications, standards, and regulations.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement effective countermeasures for internal, customer, warranty, and supplier quality incidents.
- Collaborate internal and external teams to address quality concerns and implement process improvements.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of production processes and finished products.
- Resolve all quality control issues and report outcomes to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify areas for process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency, preferably with knowledge of Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- Work closely and confidently with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming and assembled materials.
- Address customer complaints and ensure customer satisfaction with quality standards.
Compliance and Standards:
- Working with our Quality Safety Health and Environment team and Lean manager to ensure compliance with industry standards, including ISO and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to quality inspections and compliance including PPAP, ISIR and GD&T.
- Ensure the inspection staff are proficient in producing certificates of confirmation (CofCs) and First Article Inspections (FAIRS).
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and participate in external audits.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
We Need You to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field
- Proven experience in leading quality assurance or inspection teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in quality inspection tools and software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
It Would Be Good to Have:
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.
- Familiarity with magnet assembly processes and materials.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality management systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Epicor would be advantageous
