Adult Education Literacy (AEL) Integrated Education Instructor
Union, Missouri - Part Time

East Central College has an opening for a part-time Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) Integrated Education Instructor responsible for providing instruction in the AEL program for adult learners, update and create curriculum, create and schedule group instruction.

Integrated Education and Training (IET) is a program that helps adults gain the skills and credentials needed to pursue in-demand careers such as healthcare, education, manufacturing and IT.

This is a part time position not to exceed 17 hour per week. Primary location will be Union campus. 

Minimum Qualifications: (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.) 

Completion of Bachelor's degree in related field and eligible for AEL Certification; and prefer adult education related experience.

Essential Tasks: (Employee must be able to perform the following essential functions to the satisfaction of the employee’s supervisor.)

  • Teach and tutor students in the AEL program enrolled in integrated education and training courses
  • Prepare and present lessons for both in-person and virtual-live students
  • Create integrated education lessons in reading, language and math, and  in the context of related workforce training programs
  • Direct, guide and evaluate student progress
  • Prepare and submit outlines of instructional programs, update course syllabi, and establish learning objectives
  • Update curriculum in LMS programs
  • Support students through technical and scheduling issues
  • Maintain appropriate records for the program, student progress, and additional data as needed.
  • Responsible for day-to-day activities and case management of AEL integrated education and training program
  • Maintain certification by participating in required annual professional development training for recertification
  • Assist students with instructional computer assisted programs and computer access issues
  • Help students with development of time management, test taking strategies and study skills.
  • Monitor activity during class to help ensure a professional and student focused learning environment.
  • Assist students from diverse backgrounds and learning levels with patience.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, and standards in a safe and efficient manner, with minimal supervision.
