As our first HR Business Partner in Bochum, you will have the opportunity to set-up and manage compensation, performance management, management training, IT policies, payroll, benefits and much more for our team of 40.  The senior leadership and global HR will depend on you to create a performance-enhancing corporate culture, further develop HR processes and ensure that our company is an attractive place to work for our current and future employees.

What We Need You to Do:

Talent Acquisition & Retention

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for all Bochum roles, ensuring a smooth, engaging candidate experience.
  • Develop strategies to attract, retain, and engage top talent.

Oversee onboarding to integrate new hires into our culture.HR Strategy & Policies

  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that align with local labour laws and global best practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design HR strategies that support business growth and employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with employment regulations and coordinate with global HR teams.
  • Employee Relations & Engagement

Be a trusted advisor to employees and managers.

  • Drive initiatives to promote employee engagement, well-being, and professional development.
  • Oversee performance management, including goal-setting and development plans.
  • Build a strong working relationship with the Works Council

Learning & Development

  • Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development programs.
  • Partner with department heads to design role-specific training and career development plans.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Oversee compensation and benefits programs to stay competitive.
  • Conduct salary reviews and benchmark against market trends.
  • HR Data & Reporting
  • Fully implement our new Workday platform.
  • Maintain HR records and generate regular reports on workforce metrics.
  • Use HR data insights to inform decisions and improve overall HR practices.

 What You Bring to the Table

  • A self-driven, independent, and proactive work style – you own your role!  
  • 7+ years of HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (HR certifications like PHR, SHRM-CP, or CIPD a plus).
  • Knowledge of German labor law and experience working with Works Councils.
  • Familiarity with global HR practices, including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance across Europe and the USA.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a positive workplace culture in a global environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills – You’re a skilled mediator, problem-solver, and strategic thinker.
  • Fluent in English (C2 or native) and German (C1 minimum).
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., Workday) and digital collaboration tools.
  • Flexibility and desire to pick up other duties as needed.
