Precision Machine Adjunct Instructor
Union, Missouri - Part Time

East Central College is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Adjunct Precision Machining Instructor to teach 1 to 2 classes per semester. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC machining, including CNC mills and CNC lathes, as well as manual machining, including lathes, mills, and surface grinders. Familiarity with the Titans of CNC curriculum is preferred. Experience with multi-axis machining is a plus, but a willingness to learn is also acceptable.

Schedule may include evening or day courses, depending on program needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach precision machining courses in alignment with industry standards and the Titans of CNC curriculum.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in CNC milling, CNC turning, and general machining practices.
  • Guide students in developing technical skills, troubleshooting machining processes, and understanding best practices for safety and quality.
  • Assist in curriculum development and continuous improvement based on industry advancements.
  • Foster a positive learning environment and engage students through interactive and practical learning activities.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of CNC equipment and tools in the lab.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to enhance the machining program.

Qualifications:

Passion for pushing manufacturing education into the future is a must!

  • Minimum of a certificate of completion or degree in Precision Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field (equivalent industry experience will be considered).
  • Extensive hands-on experience with CNC mills and CNC lathes.
  • Familiarity with Titans of CNC curriculum or willingness to learn and implement it.
  • Experience with multi-axis machining is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and G-code programming.
  • Familiarity with NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills)
  • familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Ability to teach manual machining, including lathes, mills, surface grinders, and inspection equipment.
  • Previous teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to student success and hands-on learning.

 

Adjuncts are hired on a per semester basis and are eligible to teach a maximum of 18 credit hours per academic calendar year and only 9 credit hours per semester.

Adjuncts are paid per credit hour based on level of degree obtained.
