Rothrock Civil Construction is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our civil construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a range of earthmoving and construction equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and rollers. Working under the direction of the site supervisor or foreman, the Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for performing excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation activities in accordance with project plans and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities for Success

• Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, rollers, and haul trucks to perform site development, trenching, grading, and earthmoving tasks.
• Read and follow plans, grade stakes, and cut sheets to ensure precise execution.
• Perform both rough and finish grading, trench backfill, slope work, and general site prep with accuracy and care.
• Conduct pre-start inspections and basic maintenance on your machine to ensure safety and uptime.
• Coordinate closely with site supervisors, grade checkers, and fellow operators to keep work flowing efficiently.
• Follow safety procedures and environmental standards—your awareness on site keeps everyone safe.

What You Bring to the Table

• Proven experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on civil construction or earthwork projects.
• Ability to interpret site plans, grade markings, and cut/fill requirements.
• Strong understanding of soil types, equipment limitations, and how to safely work on varied terrain.
• Commitment to job site safety—you follow the rules and look out for others.
• Team-focused mindset—you communicate well and work smoothly with others in a fast-paced field environment.
• Bonus: Experience using or assisting with GPS or laser grading systems.
