East Central College has an opening for a full-time TRIO Program Director responsible for providing strategic, administrative, and financial leadership for a complex federal TRIO grant, ensuring full compliance with all U.S. Department of Education regulations and institutional policies. This position oversees program design, implementation, assessment, and reporting for student support initiatives focused on the success of first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. The Director leads a professional team dedicated to improving retention, academic achievement, and graduation outcomes, while maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of all program operations.
Position is grant funded.
Minimum Qualifications: (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
- Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in higher education, student services, or grant management.
- Experience with TRIO programs or serving low-income, first-generation, or underrepresented student populations preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in program design, implementation, assessment, and management required.
- Experience with retention and graduation initiatives preferred.
Essential Tasks: (Employee must be able to perform the following essential functions to the satisfaction of the employee’s supervisor.)
- Interpret and implement federal guidelines, objectives, and performance goals to ensure accountability and compliance.
- Prepare and submit competitive grant applications, quarterly and annual performance reports, including the Annual Performance Report (APR).
- Manage the program budget, monitor expenditures, and maintain financial records in accordance with federal and institutional requirements.
- Oversee the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all TRIO program services (advising, tutoring, workshops, cultural enrichment, etc.).
- Serve as the primary liaison with institutional leadership, faculty, community partners, and the U.S. Department of Education.
- Develop and maintain annual schedules and timelines to ensure delivery of grant objectives and activities.
- Implement and manage assessment tools to measure grant process, program effectiveness and student outcomes.
- Lead student recruitment, eligibility verification, and selection processes in compliance with federal regulations.
- Process student exits from the program and the institution.
- Work in collaboration with Advising and Career Services Director to Assign caseloads.
- Maintain a personal caseload of TRIO participants, providing academic, financial, and career advising.
