JOB TITLE: Enrollment Counselor – Diverse Populations

East Central College has an opening for a full time Enrollment Counselor – Diverse Populations. This position serves to build relationships with prospective and current students, supporters, districts by promoting early college, transfer and career technical opportunities that directly impact the success and reputation of the college.
Minimum Qualifications: (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
- Bachelor’s degree required from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. Previous experience tracking metrics and working with KPIs. Demonstrated value of teamwork and collaboration. Excellent active listening, verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Essential Tasks: (Employee must be able to perform the following essential functions to the satisfaction of the employee’s supervisor.)
- Contribute to the achievement of recruitment and enrollment goals by representing East Central College at recruitment events that target diverse populations, such as adult learners, students of color, international students, veterans, and other segments of students as determined by the College.
- Advise prospective students and their supporters regarding admission requirements, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships, athletics, student organizations and activities through individual appointments, phone calls, emails, text messages, walk-in inquiries, campus tours, and group information sessions.
- Participate with the departmental leadership to establish enrollment targets and recruitment and onboarding strategies, including utilizing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for outreach and support from recruitment through completion of the first term.
- Collaborate with departments campus-wide to form partnerships to promote all academic areas and Center for Workforce Development (CWD).
- Assist with planning and execution of New Student Orientation.
- Assist with evaluating high school transcripts for placement testing needs, as it relates to prerequisites during heavy enrollment seasons.
- Conduct visits to Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) classrooms on campus and at off-site locations to promote academic pathways from HiSET completion to college enrollment.
- Process all international students’ admissions documentation, including serving as the College’s Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and entering and maintaining records in Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Organize SEVIS data processing under the guidelines provided by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and maintain data and quality control management. Establish, update, and track SEVIS files on a quarterly basis. Meets (or speak) with the Student and Exchange Visitor Field Representative twice a year.
- Advise students with immigration petitions and applications to include processing for new F-1 visas. Provide accurate immigration information to international students, monitor and track student immigration status, and maintain appropriate files.
- Create and Implement an Onboarding and New Student Orientation for all International Students.
- Refer students who may need access services to the proper place for documentation and support.
- Perform assigned responsibilities, and other related duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

Salary range: $45,100.48 - $62,285.65. While the full salary range is provided for growth potential, most new hires are initially placed within the lower portion of the range based on experience and institutional compensation guidelines. Position is level 201.
